Peptides.build vs American Peptides: prescribed protocols vs research-use-only vials, product by product
The short answer
American Peptides (americanpeptides.us) sells research-use-only powder vials labeled "For Laboratory & Research Use Only, Not for Human or Veterinary Use", with no prescription. Peptides.build prescribes the same compounds: a licensed US provider reviews a five-minute intake and a licensed 503A pharmacy ships them pre-mixed and labeled. A research vial costs less up front (their BPC-157 lists at $60.00 for 5 mg); our prescribed BPC-157 is $163 month to month with the provider, pharmacy and shipping included.

Their price is one vial of powder. Ours is a monthly plan with the provider, the pharmacy, mixing and cold-chain shipping included. How long a vial lasts depends on a prescription, which a research vial does not come with.
KLOW or Wolverine, prescribed instead
Research vial vs prescription: what is the real difference?
| Prescribed (Peptides.build) | Research use only | |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Pharmacy label with the concentration | "For Laboratory & Research Use Only, Not for Human or Veterinary Use" (American Peptides' own words) |
| Prescription | Yes, from a licensed US provider after a five-minute intake | None |
| Who makes it | A licensed US 503A compounding pharmacy, for one patient | A research supply company (its own description) |
| Arrives as | Liquid, already reconstituted, ready to draw | Lyophilized powder; reconstitution solution sold separately |
| Instructions | Your prescription label and your provider | "We do not provide usage instructions, dosing guidelines" (its gate text) |
| If something goes wrong | Your provider, the pharmacy and FDA MedWatch | No prescriber and no dispensing pharmacy |
| Up-front price | Monthly plan, everything included | Lower per vial, before water, syringes and mixing |
American Peptides is open about this. Before you can browse, its site asks you to agree that its products are for laboratory research only, and states: βProducts on this website are not for human injection. We do not provide usage instructions, dosing guidelines, or any advice regarding the application of our products.β That is the honest description of a research chemical. It is also why it cannot be the answer for someone who plans to inject it.
What regulators say about peptides sold "for research use only"
These are their words, not ours. Each quote links to the official source.
βInjectable drug products can pose risks of serious harm to users. Injectable products are delivered directly into the body, sometimes directly into the bloodstream, and therefore, bypass some of the body's key defenses against toxins and microorganisms.β
βDespite statements on your product labeling marketing your products for "Research Use Only," β¦ your products are intended to be drugs for human use.β
β[They can] contain contaminants, such as solvents, heavy metals, particles (fibers, glass, plastic), or microbials (bacteria, fungi, endotoxins).β
βThis type of labelling does not make these products legal or exempt from regulatory requirements.β
HHS gave the same reason for its October 28, 2026 peptide policy: to pull patients away from research-use-only peptides supplied by foreign manufacturers. Read our HHS policy explainer.

Is American Peptides cheaper than a prescription?
- Per vial, yes. BPC-157 lists at $60.00; our BPC-157 is $163 month to month.
- What the vial leaves out: the prescription, a pharmacy label with the concentration, reconstitution, and anyone to call. Their reconstitution solution is sold separately.
- What our price includes: provider review, compounding by a licensed 503A pharmacy, mixing, labeling and cold-chain shipping, with no membership fee.
- Status: single-ingredient BPC-157, MOTS-c and epitalon are covered by the HHS policy when compounded by a licensed pharmacy against a prescription. A research vial is not, whatever compound it holds. The real cost of a research vial.

FAQ
Is American Peptides legit?
American Peptides says it tests every batch and publishes certificates of analysis. What it is not is a prescriber or a pharmacy: its own site calls it "a research supply company only", labels every product "For Laboratory & Research Use Only, Not for Human or Veterinary Use", and says its products are not for human injection. We have not tested its products and make no claim about them.
Is American Peptides FDA-approved?
No. Research-use-only peptides are not FDA-approved, and American Peptides says its products are not approved for human or animal consumption. Compounded peptides prescribed by Peptides.build are not FDA-approved either; they are prescribed by a licensed provider and compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy.
Why is American Peptides cheaper?
A vial is a powder with nothing else attached: no prescription, no pharmacist, no label for you, no reconstitution. Their KLOW Blend lists at $200.00 for 80 mg; prescribed KLOW at Peptides.build is $225 month to month or $183/mo on 6 months, with the provider review, compounding, mixing and cold-chain shipping included.
How do I know if a peptide vendor is legit?
For something you will inject, check three things: a licensed US prescriber writes a prescription for you, a licensed pharmacy you can look up compounds it and labels it, and the company appears in an independent register. A label that says not for human use answers the question.
How much do peptide injections cost?
Prescribed protocols at Peptides.build run from $158/mo (BPC-157 on 6 months) upward, each with provider review, compounding and shipping included. Research vials cost less per vial but are not sold for human use.
Does Peptides.build sell research peptides?
No. We sell no research-use-only products. Everything here is prescribed by a licensed provider and compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy.
What is the downside of taking peptides?
Most peptide research is preclinical, so benefits and long-term safety in people are not established. Most are injections. Several are prohibited in drug-tested sport. Buying research-use-only vials adds the risks regulators describe in the quotes above.
Are blends like KLOW and Wolverine covered by the HHS policy?
No. The HHS policy of October 28, 2026 covers single-ingredient products, so blends such as KLOW, GLOW, Wolverine and CJC-1295 / ipamorelin are outside it, as is DSIP. Peptides.build still offers them when a licensed provider prescribes them after an intake.
Prescribed, not research use only
A licensed US provider reviews a short online intake. If a prescription is appropriate, a licensed US 503A pharmacy fills it and ships it cold-chain, already reconstituted and labeled with the concentration.
