# Which peptides are legal in 2026, and which can you get prescribed?

Updated October 29, 2026 · Sourced to HHS, FDA and the Federal Register

## The short answer

Since October 28, 2026, HHS lets licensed 503A pharmacies compound six peptides for patients with a prescription: BPC-157, TB-500, MOTS-c, Epitalon, Semax and KPV, single-ingredient and in set forms. None is FDA-approved. Peptides.build prescribes three of them (BPC-157, MOTS-c, Epitalon) from $158/mo. Blends and DSIP are outside the policy; we still offer them when a licensed provider prescribes them, and we say so on every page.

How to read it

## What does each status mean?

- **Covered by HHS policy.** HHS will not take enforcement action against a licensed 503A pharmacy or physician compounding it for a patient with a prescription, if the ten conditions are met. Not FDA approval.
- **FDA-approved brand exists.** A branded drug with the same active ingredient is FDA-approved. The compounded version is a different product and is not FDA-approved.
- **Blend: outside policy.** The policy covers one active ingredient per product. We still offer these blends when a licensed provider prescribes them.
- **Not named in the policy.** The policy says nothing about it either way.

The full policy, its ten conditions and its timeline are in our [HHS peptide policy explainer](https://peptides.build/news/hhs-peptide-policy/).

Common questions

## FAQ

### Are peptides legal in the US?

It depends on the peptide. FDA-approved peptide drugs are legal by prescription. Since October 28, 2026, six unapproved peptides may be compounded by licensed 503A pharmacies for patients with a prescription under an HHS policy. Research-use-only peptides are not sold for human use.

### Which six peptides does the HHS policy cover?

BPC-157, TB-500, MOTS-c, Epitalon, Semax and KPV, each in one chemical form and by specific routes only.

### Are peptide stacks and blends legal?

Blends are outside the HHS policy, which covers one active ingredient only. Peptides.build still offers its blends when a licensed provider prescribes them, compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy, and labels them as outside the policy.

### Is DSIP covered?

No. FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted against DSIP in July 2026, and it is not in the policy.

### Do I need a prescription for peptides?

For anything compounded under the HHS policy, yes: a patient-specific prescription from a licensed clinician, filled by a state-licensed pharmacy.

### Are compounded peptides FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

### Can my state ban a peptide the policy covers?

Yes. State pharmacy and medical boards can still restrict peptides. Check your state before you start.

Prescribed, not mixed at home

## Tired of reconstituting?

A licensed US provider reviews a short online intake. If a prescription is appropriate, a licensed US 503A pharmacy fills it and ships it cold-chain, already reconstituted and labeled with the concentration.
